Does sprich work fully offline?+
Yes. Both legs ship on-device: Whisper large-v3 for transcription and Gemma 3 1B for cleanup. No API calls, no uploads. Hit your hotkey on a plane — sprich runs the same.
What's the difference between Literal, Formal, and Custom mode?+
Literal cleans up filler words and grammar but keeps your wording. Formal rewrites the same thought as polished prose and adapts to the app you're in. Custom takes your own system prompt — a commit-message style, a Slack tone, an internal memo voice.
What do BYO API keys cost?+
On Groq's free tier, typical use is $0/month. On OpenAI or Anthropic, most people pay a few dollars a month. Every call goes straight from your Mac to the provider — sprich never proxies and never adds a margin.
Which languages does sprich support?+
Fifteen: English, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, and Japanese. Auto-detect is the default; you can pin a language in Settings. Dialect-aware for Schweizerdeutsch and Austrian German.
Where does my data live?+
On your Mac. Audio is held in memory and never written to disk. When you opt into a cloud key, the call goes directly to the provider on your account — sprich never proxies and stores no transcripts. Sign-in (when you choose to) is hosted in Frankfurt.
Can I get a VAT-compliant invoice?+
Yes. Checkout runs on LemonSqueezy, which issues VAT-compliant invoices and handles EU reverse charge for B2B buyers automatically.
